I quite like "smart" stuff. It is useful to me to string some devices together to take inputs from each other, and control devices over a network. I particularly like *open* smart stuff. I just don't like "smart" stuff which involves, or worse depends upon, someone else's computer.

I feel a bit sorry for those who have grown up only learning about "the cloud" and complex web apps, rather than the fundamentals of hosting, and putting text files on a server. "Cloud" may be the right choice for some, but if it is all one knows, then it is not a choice.
