I use LibreOffice, and while I can't promise that it will meet all - indeed, any - of anyone else's needs, it is free, multiplatform, interoperable, and, IME, impressive.
(I mainly use Writer, and I use it a *lot*, for a range of legal documents.)

The film "Hackers" was released 30 years ago today.
It doesn't have the best plot in some respects, but I love the music, the aesthetic, and the characters' sheer enjoyment of their computers and the net.
One of my favourite films :)
