Fedi admins: what, if any, agreement(s) do you have in place with your mods (paid or volunteer)? #fedimeta
I am idly reflecting on the days when I would have to make a decision to go online. Cue beeps and screeches and boops, and then I would be online. I would retrieve stuff from servers, and then disconnect. Part of me wonders what it would be like to go back to that approach. It would be a massive change to my approach to work, probably entirely impractical, but something about it appeals.
What do other UK folks use as an online source of reliable, non-tabloid, edited/collated "mainstream" (as in, not just tech, or sport etc.) national and international news? I am a bit fed up of the BBC (in terms of both coverage and its website), but I lack a better alternative. I used to like the FT, and some of the Guardian's reporting. Tell me what you use, please?
When I view my fedi feed via the web, I hide (via custom CSS) toots with images which do not have alt text. That has an added bonus of hiding lots of toots which are screenshots of text from other sites, since these rarely seem to have alt text. It would be cool if I could do the same on Android (I am currently using Tusky).

The stage goes dark. It is lit only by a large chandelier, hanging from the ceiling. A pipe organ rises from the floor, white low smoke whirling around it. On the bench, a small masked orange carbonated figure starts playing. Opening soon, "The Fanta of the Opera".
# Investigation into MintStars Ltd compliance with rules to protect children from restricted material Back in February, Ofcom fined MintStars - which bills itself as a more pro-performer alternative to OnlyFans - for age verification failings. (The fine was relatively small.) https://www.ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/protecting-children/investigation-into-mintstars-ltd
