Been trying out Typst for a project, after repeated suggestions from people, and it seems to work quite nicely. Faster and better PDF results than the open source CSS PDF typesetters, but also easier to use than LaTeX. Converting the HTML output to epub using pandoc is still an ongoing exploration, though.

Trying out Zen Browser and I don't immediately hate it. It has a few things I disagree with (for example, downplaying the URL actually makes a browser less usable, it's a complexity inherent to the web and obfuscating it makes people less safe) but overall seems to work nicely
