All the bases will remain open. The ships are sailing everywhere. The weapon sales continue and the Pentagon budget is going up.

We are in this fucked up moment because we gave the guy who loves playing to our base instincts, the greatest tool to do exactly that. Decentralized text, audio and video needs some way to get attention. That's what the early web gave us but we still relied on TV etc to know what sites existed etc. Even what to search for. Social media fixed that but became the new gatekeepers. Decentralized social media displaces them. The social news feed (microblogging but that's a bad term) goes together with blogs, podcasts, #peertube etc like chocolate and peanut butter. They are not the same but need each other to be really awesome.

The #GoldenGlobes are interesting in that they are very expansive in celebrating a variety of media. I kinda want it to eventually be a day long celebration of all media, all decentralized. Broadcast via #owncast. No limits.

I know many loved early Twitter because you could reply like this to famous people. It was fun but also considered a good form of protest when applied to powerful figures. Necessary discourse. But couldn't this also be considered harassment? Something a new user might see not being moderated for and decide the service had too many annoying people you'd have to block yourself.
