In 2016, a few white guys from #Oregon contacted leaders of the Fort McDermitt Tribal Council in northern #Nevada. They wanted to partner with the tribe to grow cannabis on tribal land. They said the farm would be 100% owned by the tribe, would create much-needed jobs, generate money for tribal services like healthcare and education, and spur business in the remote area.
