The mayor’s performance and his opinions about Israel are two totally different matters.
Holding views about a foreign country does not endanger New York's Jewish communities.
In fact, antisemitism grows when perceived as being represented by Israel rather than as citizens of our own countries and cities, with our own identity.
Israel is not the state of the Jews. Israel says it is, and Zionists say it is. But we are not Zionists. Israel has nothing to do with us. It is a foreign country, no different than Ukraine.
Zionists don't get to speak for all Jews. Israel does not get to speak for all Jews. Every Jew is an individual and speaks for himself.
The IHRA definition of anti-Semitism that was abandoned was not a protection for Jews. It was a protection for the ideology of Zionism at the expense of Jews. It was a liability to Jew, not an asset.
We will not pay a blood tax for Zionism. Zionists want us to and Israel wants us to, because part of Zionist ideology is to sacrifice Jews for the sake of Zionism.
Zionism burns Jews as fuel. The IHRA helps it do that.
Goodbye and good riddance to the IHRA definition.
We hope other cities, states, countries, and institutions will follow suit.

As a Jewish New Yorker, I will not stay silent while protections for Jewish communities are stripped away. Zohran Mamdani repealed those protections at a time when antisemitism is rising.
As governor, I will enforce the law and defend every New Yorker against hate.
