Update on my "Pot-O-Carrots" Variety is "MoonRaker", planted in April. Pretty much left alone except for watering all season. Not prize winning specimens, but are MUCH better that what I get from my garden soil. Average about 4" in length & we harvest what we need, meal by meal. Should end up with well over 150 carrots by the end, but I've not counted them this year. Pot was in full sun all summer and is now in the greenhouse.😀 #gardening #Allotment #NewEngland #zone6b @npub1nw7c...g0ek
C'est fini! The last of the cropping veg. has been removed, chopped up and put in the compost. Rows of mulch have been laid down at regular intervals to control water run-off over the winter. All that remains to do is lay down the pelletized lime before winter sets in.The bottom of the plot has rhubarb, milkweed, Cleome & raspberries which all will remain as-is until spring. Some of that is still flowering with bees visiting. #gardening #Allotment #NewEngland #zone6b @npub1nw7c...g0ek @a place for allotment folk image
Well, the peppers, eggplant and even the raspberries survived the cold temperatures yesterday. It's nowhere near that cold this morning (52°F/10°C). HOWEVER, I decided to take up everything now anyway as my window for "comfortable" outdoor work is closing fast. Got as far as removing the peppers yesterday and chopping them for the compost. Will do the eggplant today if the rain holds off. The raspberries (still bearing) will be left all winter. #gardening #Allotment #NewEngland @npub1nw7c...g0ek image
