To all the “we don’t want to become like the USA” people… Please understand that if gun ownership alone caused mass shootings, Switzerland would look like the United States and it absolutely doesn’t. That should tell us that culture, social cohesion, criminal subcultures and institutional trust play a hugely decisive role. Policy debates should acknowledge that complexity exists rather than reducing everything down to a single factor. Life is not black and white.
