❗️‘Death tombs’: Palestinian prisoners raped, mutilated, and tortured in Israeli custody
– Testimonies from inside Israeli prisons have exposed what lawyers describe as one of the most savage torture campaigns carried out against Palestinian detainees, with accounts likened to the atrocities of Abu Ghraib under US occupation in Iraq.
– According to testimony conveyed by lawyer Khaled Mahajna of the Prisoners Affairs Commission, a Palestinian prisoner from Gaza was “horrifically raped by an Israeli female prison guard who stripped him of his clothes and sexually assaulted him in a sadistic manner in front of other prisoners, despite his hands being tied, while his cries for help were met with mockery and criminal pleasure.”
– Mahajna added that the violations did not stop there. He spoke of a young Palestinian prisoner suffering from cancer who was forced to drink toilet water after asking for clean water. He also described how “an Israeli doctor amputated a prisoner's hand without anesthesia after it deteriorated from iron shackles that were not removed for months.”
– “These are not ‘isolated cases,’" Mahajna said, but part of “an official policy aimed at terrorizing an entire people, and a clear message to the world: the occupation does not recognize international law, fears no court, and turns prisons into open torture graves.”
