One of the reasons people stick with MS Word is that they care a lot about layout and alternatives that have reimplemented (either from documentation or reverse engineering) the Word layout model are not 100% compatible. Which is why I am utterly baffled by the fact that MS Word Online is so different for layouts that page numbers do not line up with the page numbers in desktop Word, for shortish documents (under ten pages) with minimal formatting.

BSI C++ group is discussing floating-point semantics and every time someone speaks I revise my estimate of my understanding of floating-point arithmetic down slightly. I am soon going to reach the point where I need subnormals to represent my understanding of floating point.
