I'm just a humble info nerd and not an expert. But, as one of the few who followed – in real-time – the Ukraine/Russia conflict since the Maidan protests (2013), the subsequent US-backed street putsch/coup (2014), and the subsequent civil war (2014-2022), I had to take a break from Twitter right after the invasion in early 2022. It was beyond frustrating as someone who actually did the proof of work to try and understand a serious conflict driven by a casual series of multi-state machinations...yet, suddenly, everyone was an "expert" confidently truncating the antecedents and declaring demonstrative fallacies with regard to a place they couldn't even label on a map the day before. So, of course, just like everything else, it quickly devolved into the cesspit of juvenile politics – where rationality goes to die and where every situation is a good guy-bad guy binary...because that's how normo-political people analyze a complex world. The entire catastrophe really is a case study in the effects of State-political narratives coupled with anti-social media platform incentives.
