Operation: cut as little material as possible to get a fit. Just 1 or 2 more passes and I think she’ll be there. Plasma torch is my new best friend.

Until today, all I have done is remove material. Tearing down is sometimes necessary, but banal and basic. Today, I have built up. It’s just one layer of paint, but it’s a step forward which feels very rewarding.

For Father’s Day, I present a poem by my daughter that is very fitting for nostr:

Me, happily blasting away at rust with the wire wheel: “Hmm. 1964… wonder if this is leaded paint…”
Turns out it almost certainly is. Fortunately, that thought came to me after clearing a small patch.
Even wearing damn good PPE, a dry wire wheel just kicks up too much crap to tolerate.
Time to go with a much more tedious wet sanding approach. 🫡
