This Buddha statue in the Japanese Garden in Golden Gate Park has such a profound presence. Every time I looked at him, I was moved to tears. It felt as though I was in the loving presence of the Buddha, flesh to flesh, and that he saw all of me. There was a completely palpable, affirmative feeling of acknowledgment.
As I began to walk away, I couldn’t stop turning back, and each time I felt the same animating, energetic conversation. We were in our own bubble. I became quiet with the company I was with, my throat tightening as tears welled up inside me.
