Hum, are we the only cross-platform messenger project present in 15+ app stores that primarily announces on, and interacts with, the Fediverse while others use X and maybe Bluesky? If you know of others please mention them in the replies :) In any case, we are pretty happy here, as we are finding meaningful interactions, and organically evolving interest and collaboration with other people and projects. Probably it helps that #email shares several traits with #ActivityPub protocols? Cheers.

It is popular to criticise surveillance/capitalism and to want/work towards a decentralized, secure and diverse communication and media landscape. However, there are real devices, networks, states and stores to navigate, inducing technical and usable-security challenges. #deltachat dev efforts are following a "speculative realism" instead of an idealist approach. We care about cooperative user testing, maintenability and development. We btw moved to #rustlang in 2019 ... when it wasn't cool :)

The photo evidence about #38c3 is mostly about the art and then some small group consentual shared creature photos .... Its actually magic how congress with life streams and recording and quick publishing manages this collectively without violence, and at a scale of over 12k folks ... Your neighbors will quickly have a word if you try disrespecting the no photo policy. not so much because it's the law but because they take a personal interest in not being photographed. Cash only.

As you know we typically prefer to publish about released software, available immediately, rather than go around and make a series of promises and great plans that never quite materialize. But we consider this roughly 60-seats setting in Saal 6 a more private one, and may thus reveal a bit of what's going on behind the public scenes ;)
