One things that is really interesting and scary in the US Telecom hack by a Chinese threat actor is how much internet surveillance is putting all of us at risk of such attack. Here is what Verizon says "While pursuing the small number of targets, the threat actor also accessed a small percentage of mobile internet access records and mobile call records for other Verizon wireless customers. The mobile internet access records included the mobile telephone number, device hardware identifier known as an IMSI, time and date of the internet session, internet destination known as a destination IP address, and cell tower location." It means that Verizon is keeping track of every IP contacted by a customer over Internet, and some of that was accessed by a foreign threat actor. #infosec
