U.S. Customer Importing Update for my Etsy shop: Looks like I’m going to have to pay tariffs on some of the items I make and want to import to U.S. customers. Some products are classified under one HTS code that is exempt under CUSMA. Those items include decorations, figurines, containers, etc. All my other items are considered 'toys' and treated similarly to anything coming in from China, even though I make everything myself within Canada. It's still subject to the 35% tariffs. Due to this, I'll have to apply for a hybrid type of approval with an importing broker. Further, my U.S. customers will see a flat 20% price increase on all items in my store to balance out non-tariff and tariffed products. It will not be labelled as a tariff at checkout; Etsy doesn't have that option yet. I'm super sorry about this. I wish I had a better solution. Shipping should open up again in a week or so, I hope.
Cutest video I’ve ever made in my life: I present to you… the new coffee clicker keychains! They’ll be in the store by the end of the day with some other goodies. 🤘🏻 https://brittbuilds3d.etsy.com #BuyCanadian #etsy
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but it appears that Canada Post announced this afternoon that CUSMA compliant goods that are made in Canada are NOT EXEMPT from the new 35% U.S. tariffs as expected when importing through postal shipments?? This is huge. In the worst way. I don’t know how a Canadian business would be subject to a new tariff when said business and its product comply with an existing trade agreement (CUSMA). Doesn’t that sort of null and void CUSMA for all items entering the U.S. through the post now? Where are the Libs on this? Hello? The silence is deafening. image
