The tech industry's eternal cycle: Build fast, ignore safety, chase growth. T&S and privacy get relegated to "we'll deal with it later" because protecting vulnerable communities was never the priority. They weren't the "target audience." When their platforms get weaponized, when harassment turns systematic, when harm becomes irreversible - only then do they summon marginalized voices as free "advisors," shunning most of the feedback anyways because what could these communities possibly know?

It should matter that one of Bluesky's investors is Alumni Ventures, which also funded Outlogic (formerly known as X-Mode Social) - basically a data broker that collected and sold location data by tracking various mobile apps (including dating, music, weather, and Muslim prayer apps.) Among other controversies, Outlogic/X‑Mode had supplied location data to U.S. military contractors:
