Backers of Bitcoin, or "AI", occasionally try this ludicrous argument that technologies which intentionally waste energy are good for climate change, because by creating portable demand for energy they encourage alternative energy development.
To the fossil fuel providers, they tell the truth: "AI" and Bitcoin can soak up the supply created by alternative energy, so that we continue burning coal and oil even after wind and solar become cheap enough to dispace it.
