the thing about non-violent resistance is that the **whole point** is to get authorities to overreact violently and demonstrate the violence inherent in the system.
my problem with these takes isn't that the Democrats should mock these people or make them pay or whatever. people change their minds. fine. my problem is the implication that Democrats should **accommodate** them. which, fuck off. they want to vote against the party that is deporting moms, they should do that. but no fucking "meet them halfway" concessions. none.
always interesting how whenever someone associated with the Palestinian cause does something violent, everyone has to denounce it, but when Israeli tanks machine-gun a couple dozen starving people who are trying to get food it's all "well, it's regrettable, but that's just part of the conflict."
