“What are the roadblocks to full fediverse compatibility in threads?” Peter mentions getting the foundations in place…including fediverse accounts in your feeds, merging fediverse replies into the main threads, media distribution. Hints at these type of foundational items being released in 2025.
Headed to Fediverse House at SXSW? Here's my own personal recommendations for places to eat, drink and visit while you're here. Have your own favorites near the venue? Reply and let others know. Hope to see you there! #FediverseHouse #SXSW
TapBots creating a BlueSky app, coming this summer to closed beta. #BlueSky
Since it’s basically in my backyard, I’ll be attending the #FediverseHouse put on by @Flipboard and @Surf in Austin next weekend. Who else will be there? Looking forward to it!
Interesting history of the fediverse from @Jon Lots to take in. Bookmarked so I can follow the reference links later. #Fediverse
Nice little feature in the IceShrimp.NET beta I found today. Most of the Forkey platforms have the concept of a "Drive" where all the media you've uploaded is contained. In the drive, warnings have been added to any image that is missing ALT text. You can go through and easily add the missing ALT text right from this screen! #AltText #IceShrimpNet image
Slurp is a new CLI tool for GoToSocial that is making post migration possible from Mastodon and Pixelfed archive formats. Learn about the complexities of previous import solutions and how I slurped up my Pixelfed archive into a new GoToSocial account. #GoToSocial #Fediverse #Mastodon #Pixelfed
I did an export of my Pixelfed account, and it couldn't have been easier thanks to this Posty utility and Netlify. Basically, archive your posts, upload to Posty, download the result, upload the folder to Netlify. Done! Why the Posty step? Because Pixelfed doesn't include your media attachments in the backup, just a link. I have bigger plans, but for now, more than happy with how simple this was and the posty format provides options for later. https://snaps.box464.social
After a long silence, Tumblr confirms it is still planning to join the fediverse. > The migration is still a work in progress, as we’ve previously detailed here, but we can say for sure that it will include support for WordPress’s existing ActivityPub plugins. We hope this comes as good news. #Fediverse #ActivityPub #Tumblr image
