Today the 105 year anniversary of the Ocoee Election Day Massacre. On 11/2/1920 a white mob murdered 30 Black people, burned 25 Black owned homes & 2 Black churches—all because Black people exercised their right to vote. Ocoee's entire Black community was driven out within a year. No Black American moved back in until 60 years later in 1980. Why wasn’t this taught in schools? This isn’t ancient history. It’s yesterday’s newspaper.
