🎧 Mood. The 1984 Summer Olympic Games were a PR client. My brief was to promote performers at the Opening Ceremony—providing short bios to TV news and sport shows in the US in the weeks before the Ceremony. One afternoon in June, I met Etta James. We sat in a video editing suite in Burbank together to watch her clip. I knew after a half-minute she liked it. She was nodding in my peripheral vision. Her verdict: "Thank you, baby. I like it." A few weeks later, she would perform "When the Saints Go Marching In" with a drumline and large gospel choir that made me cry. Where is our Smedley Butler?

My world is pretty small right now—the Fedi, the cabin, Charlene and trips to the grocery store a couple times a week, possible only because of an ability scooter. I may get a photo if I'm out, but they're from inside the the car.No excursions for now. Lovely weather today, in the mid-60s F, and I sat on the porch, enjoying the view and fresh air for the first time in a while. A little thing that lifted my mood, and reminded me how very fortunate I am to be in this place, now. Hobbled down to the car to retrieve sunglasses and snapped this. ❤️
