An #allotment trip happened... we have our first 0ยฐC* temperature forecast of the season tomorrow, so it was "clear out the tomatoes and chillies" day. But first... some bastard bird had already pulled out one of the garlics we planted last weekend! Grrrr... so I popped it back where it came from and hope it'll be OK. Interesting to see these have grown so quickly too, several little green shoots poking out of the ground. So we dragged the massive net we inherited with the new plot down to the grassy area at the end of the site and got it spread out and neatly folded. It is some sort of "sport" net according to the label. Like for soccer goals maybe? Anyway, we've roughly suspended it over the garlic beds. Only needs to be there long enough for the garlics to be a few cm high, 3cm maybe? They should be safe then.* Has actually been revised to 2ยฐC now, though we have a 0ยฐC forecast for Wednesday now.
Roughly hand crushed dried red seedless chilli flakes... a selection including piri piri, thunder mountain longhorn, kashmiri mirch, bishops crown, and a bunch of an unknown variety (bought as Scotch bonnet, definite wasn't!) The result is so much richer and tastier than any store bought flakes I have ever tried... though pretty much a whole dehydrator load of chillies results in just this ~90g of flakes in one small jar. Now to remember to be careful where I am putting my hands for the next day or so. ๐Ÿ˜… #allotment #chillies #gyo image

Postal funtimes. I am very glad that Fatalii package their #chilli seeds in plastic packets, as the postie simply slapped our post down in a puddle. (It was definitely wet at the time, it has been wet since I left at 06.30 this morning.) I am somewhat less enamoured of what look very much like #GenAI #slop stickers. I had noticed some sloppish looking artwork on the website. Sigh. A pity. I don't care enough, nor am I mean spirited enough, to give feedback about how I feel about that. Though it is likely to influence future purchasing.
