Strange, I don't remember planting any cats.

Today was supposed to be all the sunshines, with the odd cloud... Instead we have *this*. Which doesn't seem too bad perhaps, but I'd tried working outside in the mist before and you just end up soaked through in a weird clammy sort of way. I wish to raise a complaint. Anyway, have plenty to do in the chaotic dirt heap we call home so I have things to crack on with including tidying the kitchen... ahead of making it a mess again with things such as making tortilla, perhaps making quiche, making quince chutney, and processing the latest batch of passata. But first I have a distraction to consider... ordering garlic to grow, and pondering next year's tomato seeds... De Colgar is out and needs a replacement, I am also not happy with both the prima bella (red cherry) and galina (yellow cherry) varieties so will be replacing them. For the yellow cherries I really liked Golden Crown from Chiltern Seeds, but they don't stock it any more.

Has something odd happened in the UK egg supply chain? I can't remember the last time I cracked open a properly fresh egg. The sort of egg you can poach. Every white is just the runniest snot. This is despite us only buying what are presumably local eggs from local shops. 🤷🥚 (I need to ask the retailers I guess, but it sounds like too much of a whinge or complaint.) Some day I'd really like to have my own chooks. I like eggs, but I'm put off by them being so... meh... Anyway, now I need a good use for a dozen old eggs. Some sort of flan I guess, maybe a tortilla.

Dinner was burger. Local beef patty with local bacon. Home made 2023 fermented naga hot sauce and good Lithuanian mayo. #Allotment Black Brandywine tomato (so so good) and Lomgor shallot. Home garden nasturtium leaves. Foraged shaggy ink caps, fried. The bun is a bit shit, but at least it isn't "brioche".

Cleaned up a couple of today's #allotment drone photos. Will need to edit the photo If I ever get to a point that money is... less problematic... I'd like to get a decent drone. It'd be cool if I could also get usable drone video especially. It's just a fun toy really though. Here is a sequence of previous drone photos starting 2021 shortly after we had taken on our first plot, which is just the left half of what is now our double-plot, we took on the second plot about a year ago and it has been an epic (and incomplete) job tidying that up for use:
