Dude, #PredatorBadlands is fucking _excellent._
Fun as shit; I had a grin the whole time. And the handful of us in the theater after the credits rolled BONDED over this shit, talking about it, sharing insights and observations and stuff. On a FRIDAY 12:30pm showing.
Maybe that's overselling it. But I'm really glad I caught this in the theater. I think I enjoyed it more than Fantastic Four -- and I know that's a spicy take, and some may not agree. It helps to know I wasn't as thrilled with F4 as everyone else, so, YMMV. ;)
So yeah, great VFX, the story goes in a VERY different way from what I expected, and... to say any more would get into spoilers.
Elle Fanning is REALLY good in this, too. Hope to see more of her.
If you don't like the idea of learning about Predator society and shit -- I think this flick might bring you around. It doesn't go deep, but I think this does for Predators what TNG did for Klingons. 🤔
And it's got a good sense of humor at times. It's not a dry horror slog of a drama or anything, but it's not a jokey Marvel film either. It's just the right tone.
And don't even worry about that PG-13 -- this shit is violent. You get a great beheading in the first 5 minutes. Relax.
Didn't intend to see this, but a glowing review from a cynic made me consider it. And I'm glad I did.
5/5
