@conservancy is announcing today our relaunch of the **copyleft-next** project! To commemorate the anniversary of other pivotal copyleft endeavors, such as GPLv3 18 years ago and GPLv2 34 (!!) years ago. This is a visionary project to build what copyleft can be now in 2025. You can read more about the announcement here:
We're extending the CfP for FOSSY! You've got another week to get your proposals in. May 5th is the new deadline, so get your submissions in by the end of the day (in your timezone). Please drop by our IRC or XMPP chatroom if you have any questions. Or you can always reach out to conference@sfconservancy.org
If "community" to you means more than "the people using the software/service we own," you will find your people at #FOSSY. Talk submissions are open until Monday, April 28th:
The FOSSY CfP is up! Submit your proposal to speak at FOSSY (July 31-August 3rd in Portland, Oregon) before April 28 (AoE)!
Our Executive DIrector @Karen Sandler gave a talk about when to say no to funding at #FOSDEM25. While the financial climate is so difficult for FOSS projects and foundations, it's never right to compromise values or undermine your main goals to take in funding.
FOSSY is coming up, July 31-August 3 in Portland Oregon! The call for nonprofit booths is open, and the CfP will be opening soon! We still have one slot for a sponsored booth, and are hoping to get more sponsors at every level! 📄.pdf
There are 2 more days in our fundraiser and we've got just under $33,000 left to go on our match goal! By supporting us you directly help our programs like the amazing work our copyleft compliance team does, like recently funding a winning lawsuit protecting AGPL rights within Germany!
Big news: a recent copyleft lawsuit we funded and supported has concluded with a very positive result for user rights! The suit, brought by a device owner in Germany, resolved with the purchaser receiving the right to repair, modify, and reinstall LGPLed software on their devices. Check out the details at
