When I was hanging out with my sister and nephew on Thursday night, she observed that maybe New York would have a white Christmas this year. Obviously it's too soon to tell about that, but it looks like we're at least getting a white Hanukkah!
It's weird how every time someone runs a UBI or GBI test like this, it always turns out positive. Like, I *never* see headlines saying "UBI Trial in Bumfucksburg, WX Fails to Achieve Goals".
They always work, never fail.
It's almost like they're a good idea and we should move past the "trial" stage, hmm? π€

Time spent writing tonight? 1:15.
Word-count increase? Zero!
All of that time was spent in my outline, trying to work out what the heck's going to happen in ch.08, scene 5. It's going to be kind of pivotal. (FWIW, I wrapped up ch.07 a few nights ago. So, go me!) Scenes 1β3 are all in-flight, and I wrote all of scenes 4 and 6 earlier, not knowing where they'd wind up. But now I know.
So, ch.08 is in progress, just... raggedy.

I've seen an uptick in links to Substack lately, so here's yet another reminder:
Substack is a transphobic, pro-Nazi platform. Many of will not follow links to it. We are not giving that place any eyeballs or clicks.
Publishing there, or linking to it, helps the Nazi site owners. Please don't do it.

The headline says the number of people using "AI" at work is "suddenly" falling, but the article content makes it clear: this has been going on since February. It should really say: "'AI' use at workplaces shows steady decline over past 10 months".
I guess people are figuring out it's so janky and error-prone, it's simpler to just do the work themselves.
Only 1:30 spent writing tonight... because that's how long it took me to finish the scene I've been working on for the past few days. (It's an absolute prerequisite for another one I want to get cracking on... and also, this scene didn't end the way I expected it to, so it's a good thing I did it in this order!)
That finishes the scene, and chapter 7! 1:30 and 1,396 words tonight, making the scene 3,829 words total (and the chapter 15,221, ugh).

Damn, I did it again. Where "it" is "wrote for way longer than I was expecting to."
Go me!
2:10 tonight*, and almost all of that time was actual word-count production. 1,918 words! Not sure if all of them are _good_ words, but at least a few definitely are.
* In case it wasn't clear before this, I round to 5-minute increments. That's to keep me from obsessing too much about "exact" times.
