Is it just me or is the cost of any train ride through France to the Netherlands horrendous for next months? It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad. Barcelona - Rotterdam is well above 250 Euro on most days, same for Geneva - Rotterdam/Leiden for June. I mean, I booked a Deutsche Bahn ticket from Geneva via Cologne to Leiden in the end and that says something... [I'm not asking for recs, I know my way around trains, I want to vent... ]

No, covid did not teach me that online conferences are just not working. It taught me that 2/3rds of all conferences could be fully online (though one still needs to think about best structure for them and not just transplant them without any adaptation) - and the remaining third needs to focus even more on interaction (unconferences, small workshops, hackatons...) and not the usual talks. #subtoot #AcademicChatter #academia

Kennt ihr eine Initiative, die sich gezielt für psychologische Hilfe für Flüchtlinge in Deutschland einsetzt? Am besten mit Schwerpunkt auf Kinder & Jugendliche, ist aber kein Muss. Muss nicht groß sein, muss kein eingetragener Verein sein. Ich würde, aus Gründen, gerne gezielt für diesen Zweck spenden. (Ich hatte hier mit "Zeichen gegen Mobbing" einen tollen Verein empfohlen bekommen als ich was zum Thema Mobbing gesucht habe. Also hier ein neuer Versuch. Gerne boosten.)

Das vielleicht eindringliche Appel gegens Nichtwählen - als jemand, die in Deutschland wie in anderen Ländern genau in der Situation war, nicht wählen zu dürfen, trifft es ins Herz.
