And done. Right in time for Mother’s Day. My neighbor commissioned a planter as a gift for his mom and we settled on using this beautiful chunk of onyx from New Mexico because it slightly resembled a heart shape. Live near LA and want a stone planter? I love making planters in general so shoot me a message. Shipping costs are normally prohibitive though, so best if you live within driving distance…or have a lot of Bitcoin to spend.

Made some good progress today. Still working with 100 grit sandpaper and I’ll continue that tomorrow before moving up a grade. This hazy look is kinda cool, but I’m taking it all the way up past 3000 grit or higher before polishing up to a glass like finish. But now… bed.

So much sanding ahead of me… With resin you need to go up to like 3000+ grit before polishing in order to get that glass like finish. On the plus side, it’s way softer than stone so it should hopefully go much faster. I’m loving how this is turning out in any case. I really wish I’d had enough leftover calcite pieces to fill the mold, but I’m still happy with this mempool-ish composition too.
