The street down the road has an extra tall street sign because people kept steeling the sign. One of the properties on the road is for sale and the owners put this decorative sign up on the new pole when they have an open house.
The street name, chosen by the family that subdivided their property to form this street, made it through council approval because they claimed it was a local indigenous word (or so the local legend goes). It isn't, afaik, and is totally just taking the piss.
