What did phase one of the ceasefire agreement actually deliver? Phase one of Trump’s plan was designed to stop the fighting, facilitate the exchange of captives, set a boundary for Israeli withdrawal, allow the full entry of aid and open the Rafah crossing. But most of the goals under the plan never became a reality on the ground: The attacks did not stop, with Israel killing at least 451 Palestinians and wounding 1,251 since October last year. 1/ #Gaza #ceasefire image
“I am tired of being a person. Not just tired of being the person I was, but any person at all. I like watching people, but I don't like talking to them, dealing with them, pleasing them, or offending them. I am tired.” — Susan Sontag, I, etcetera: Stories via the-meaninglessness-of-existence #quotes #people image
This amazing creature has a fittingly amazing name: the psychedelic earth tiger, also known as the Indian rainbow #tarantula. It appears on Fauna & Flora’s 10 species to watch in 2026, a list of animals the conservation charity is hoping to protect. The list also includes extremely venomous vipers, a highly prized falcon and a guitarfish which looks like it has been sewn together from two different species in a “misguided scientific experiment.” #Photography: Mithun Das/CLP/Fauna & Flora/PA image
Meet Benedict Cumberbat. The first admission of the year to RSPCA West Hatch, Somerset, #UK, came in the form of a brown long-eared bat. He was found in a bird box and had no injuries but was cold and low on weight. Benedict will be nursed back to health for a few days before being released into the wild.
