Video Game Consoles were great because they brought the cost of video gaming hardware down significantly compared to PCs. They large user base allowed for Game Studios to target that hardware and user base effectively. And they were simple to use.
But now that miilions of intel quad core computer laptops and PCs from 10 years ago can be had for peanuts...
XBox One X and Playstation 5 hardware was a great deal in 2020. But no longer. Especially XBox.
Steam Deck and Nintendo are way lessor powered but are still great consoles.
Just rambling thoughts.
I like that Nintendo put physical copies out of most of the best games on Wii U for the Switch.
That means I dont have to concern myself with the Wii U console at all.
I get that it was beneficial for them to do so to make a profit on sunk cost prior games that didnt sell well because the install base of Wii U consoles was so low. But still, Im glad.
Merry Christmas! Taking it back to 2010.
My first XBox 360
I basically missed this generation. But to be fair, I didn't have good enough Internet to play online games at this point, which was the forte of this generation.
