"Spinal Tap II: The End Continues" is out on Friday, and while we don't know what the movie is like, we enjoyed [@LATimes]( ) journalist Tim Grierson's interview with the legendary band — David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls. "A week before we speak, Ozzy Osbourne succumbed to a fatal heart attack. Not that Tap ever resorted to biting the head off a bat," writes Grierson. “We had doves,” St. Hubbins points out. “We didn’t bite them. Some of them bit us.” “We killed them,” notes Smalls. “Well, that was an accident,” St. Hubbins says. “They suffocated — that was a packing issue. Should have used more peanuts.” #Movies #Cinema #Entertainment #Comedy #SpinalTap #SpinalTapII
Reports of the Anthropic/author lawsuit being settled may have been premature. U.S. District Judge William Alsup says he believes the proposed $1.5B deal is full of pitfalls, and has scheduled another hearing, which will take place on Sept. 25. If he's not satisfied, the case will go to trial in December. According to CNBC, "Alsup’s main concern centered on how the claims process will be handled in an effort to ensure everyone eligible knows about it so the authors don’t 'get the shaft.' He set a September 22 deadline for submitting a claims form for him to review before the Sept. 25 hearing to review the settlement again." #Books #Bookstodon [@bookstodon]( ) #Writing #Writers #ArtificialIntelligence #AI
