There is nothing quite so satisfying as opening a kit and finding it’s comprised of ALL THE PARTS!
Somehow this HALL effect PCBs involves no analog multiplexers and a whole lot of capacitors and resistors.
I have been experimenting with custom badge designs but I need a better paint match and more careful painting!
Not willing to admit defeat I went wildly in the other direction switching to chunky 14mm o-rings that would sit loosely and act like big damping springs- I like a quiet springy board!

I did prune down the little bird perch I added to our wayward birdhouse (the one screw holding it up had rotted out over winter and it fell on the ground). Drilled a hole and found a branch to friction fit and cut to a reasonable length. I’m probably a bit late for this season…
Really feels like you’re getting your money’s worth, many parts! Though some cut corners.
Upon further inspection the glaze is- as you might guess- thinner at the very edges. This lets a small amount of light bleed through with the backlight turned up. It’s much easier to see with a bright mobile phone torch though!
With the backlight at full brightness it shines through both the white keycaps and the very edges of the black keycaps. It looks almost like a trick of the eye in the case of the latter. These caps are so very, very dark gloss black!
