OK I think I understand #NixOS now. It's just a Linux system (I know this). But instead of installing stuff manually you type in `configuration.nix` what you want installed. And instead of editing config files manually you also type the config into `configuration.nix`. And then when you do `nixos-rebuild switch` it installs everything and also generates the config files for you and you're all set. Pretty cool. Gonna keep exploring.

Interesting. Another Mastodon release and my fix for preview images for links to The Guardian is still not in there. The code is there in the main branch and it's in production on mastodon dot social so hopefully it's scheduled for the 4.6.0 release 🤷

I've been re-watching HBO's The Leftovers (yes again) over the holidays in bits and pieces and I just inexplicably burst into tears and kind of sobbed uncontrollably at the climactic end of S01E09 for a good solid half a minute or more, which is really weird because that's never really happened to me before, anyway that's where I'm at in my life at the moment.
