yikes! 3 miners trapped underground at Red Chris mine near Dease Lake. Not a lot of information right now but apparently they are in a refuge area and safe. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/miners-red-chris-mine-bc-dease-lake-1.7592096 It is a gold and copper mine in NW BC. It is closer (as the crow flies) to Juneau Alaska than Whitehorse, or Prince George.

I generally think there are way too many municipalities and arbitrary divisions in BC. We could be a lot more efficiently governed, and fairly taxed, if these were ironed out. The more than a dozen entities in the Capital Regional District are the prime example. I hope amalgamation of Saanich and Victoria happens. He's not really supposed to be there (we only have mountain marmots here on Vancouver Island), but he's called the place home for 17 years and lives off the manicured gardens. lol.
