> Legal information giant Thomson Reuters – which has several horses in this race – says that lawyers expect their use of AI to free up about 140 working hours over 2026. Tooted without comment.
Watching someone explain to a FOSS developer that they've never donated to their project "because it's FOSS" and that, unless the developer implements features X, Y, and Z *immediately*, they will continue not to donate in the future. Yeah, really convincing. And this is part of why we can't always have nice things. #FOSS
I've had multiple email from #FOSDEM, about joining Matrix groups. I stopped using Matrix a few years ago, and I won't be joining / running an instance again just for this. If you want to message me, please DM me for my XMPP or Signal details.
First London trip of the year. I set my alarm for 0645. So, obviously, my brain woke me UK every hour after midnight, to check I hadn't missed my alarm.
If people from @GNOME are at FOSDEM, I hope to get a moment to stop by and say what a happy user I am.
New blogpost: "Dealing with apt's warning 'Policy will reject signature within a year, see --audit for details'" This is one which has been bugging me for a while. I don't have a *fix* - it is something which each repository provider needs to sort - but at least I have a workaround. #Linux #FOSS #Debian #apt
I am currently using Cryptomator, so that files stored in a certain directory are encrypted, and the directory is mounted via FUSE and decrypted for me to use it, when I give the correct key. When I shut down, only the encrypted directory is stored. I seem to recall a "native" way of doing this, but I can't think of the name. eCryptFS?
🥳 decoded.legal is 10 years old! 🥳 Today is quite a special day for me, as it marks ten years since Sandra and I started our own business, a tiny (sorry, "boutique") law firm. I've rather enjoyed working for myself and running our own business, and I'm grateful to have worked with so many amazing people.
My toot about HSBC UK blocking its app from running on my phone, because I have either or both F-Droid and Bitwarden installed, has got rather more attention than I'd intended, including journalist enquiries. A good reminder to me to be ever more mindful about what I toot. (I deleted it not too long after posting, but not rapidly enough!)
