Today's brief: The complexities of human society are vast, and among them, religion stands as a profound example of our collective imagination. As a construct of humans, religion reflects our deep-seated need for meaning, community, and transcendence. It serves as a mirror to our aspirations, fears, and quests for understanding the mysteries of existence. Whether it provides comfort, structure, or a sense of belonging, religion is undeniably a testament to the power of human creativity and the depth of our existential curiosity.
"In order for something to be used as ubiquitous money, the spender has to already have it, and the recipient has to want to hold it. Notably, people usually want to receive more of what they already have. After all, if a potential recipient wanted to hold it, they likely would have already bought some. So, if a new type of ubiquitous money were to arise, the majority of people would likely first encounter it as an investment."

If Bitcoin symbolizes financial independence, what occurs when corporations and governments start amassing it? Is it co-opted, or is this the ultimate sign of its triumph?
In her recent article, Lyn Alden charts Bitcoin’s path to monetization, and I commend her for distinguishing between situational and universal money. I believe that ETFs, corporate treasury strategies, and Bitcoin’s incorporation into mainstream finance do not undermine its cypherpunk roots but are a natural outcome of its foundational principles.

This Stoic principle reminds us to master our emotions and not succumb to fear, even when governments may exploit climate change fears to justify control. By focusing on what we can control—our thoughts and actions—we maintain clarity and resilience against manipulation.
