Even before this recent wave of People Who Have Always Been Against Israel's genocide in Gaza it has been really interesting to see people who primarily watch and read traditional media coming to that conclusion months or a year plus ago. It really says something that even the constant Israeli propaganda machine's effect on traditional Western media outlets cannot hide the atrocities Israel is committing against Palestinians.

Sobbing watching the news conference with Carney saying Canada will finally recognize Palestinian statehood, with all the optimism and pessimism that statement and its accompanying conditions deserves. But oh the cost to Palestinians of more of the western world getting their heads out of their butts has been far too much.

After having a garbage can with a flip top lid for the past four and a bit years we've lived in our house, last week the garbage collectors left a note on the bin saying it wasn't collected because it didn't have a detachable lid. I checked and it is in the city garbage policy, which surprised me because we've used one for the entire time we've been in our house and so do most of our neighbours.

Ottawa friends, it looks like our big pear tree is not going to make it - it is gradually being taken out by fire blight, despite us having the blight trimmed off and the tree sprayed - so we're trying to figure out a plan for replacement with a new tree. I think some people on here have ordered trees - any recommendations of where to order from and how that all works?
