Trump giving billionaires historic levels of tax cuts, corporations historic levels of corporate welfare, but low income people only 50% of the SNAP that was promised to them, which itself was already well below the poverty line, is the modern version of let them eat cake.
For no particular reason, reminding y'all today that Brown University scholars estimate that U.S. led post-9/11 war and violence in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan between 2001-2023 resulted in a total death toll of at least 4.5-4.7 million people and counting. The murdered were mostly Muslim, and Arab Christians, and Druze. Their lives mattered. Their existence mattered. Their humanity mattered. Still haven't found those WMDs though. Funny how that works.
This is a real tweet. Gov Abbott is either insufferably ignorant or hopes MAGAs are. Governors cannot impose tariffs on Americans moving about in the USA. This is specifically banned by •Article I, Sect 2: States can't interfere with interstate commerce •Article IV, Sect 2: "The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens" •14th Amendment: "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges" FYI Texas ranks 41st in Education.😐 image
The Trump regime says it will pay SNAP benefits reduced by 50% to the 22 million households enrolled in the program. Reminder that this reduction in food access is verbatim how Netanyahu has treated Palestinians in Gaza for decades. This is why we warned that whatever is permitted to them "over there" will be done to us over here. This injustice is coming from so called "Christians." Of course we all recall when Jesus said I'll only feed 5 out of 5000. /s
I would respect Chuck Schumer more if he simply said, "Look, if I vote for and support Mamdani, even though he's the duly elected Democratic nominee, then I will lose immense funding from our billionaire donors. And I can't take that risk." That way, while his position is still indefensible, at least it's honest. Right now, his refusal to support Mamdani, while lying about it, shows that Schumer is both feckless, and a liar. As low as the bar is, I prefer an honest coward to a deceptive one.
Today the 105 year anniversary of the Ocoee Election Day Massacre. On 11/2/1920 a white mob murdered 30 Black people, burned 25 Black owned homes & 2 Black churches—all because Black people exercised their right to vote. Ocoee's entire Black community was driven out within a year. No Black American moved back in until 60 years later in 1980. Why wasn’t this taught in schools? This isn’t ancient history. It’s yesterday’s newspaper. image
If you want clear and accurate information to understand what is happening in Sudan, and how you can help stop this genocide, here is the piece that will provide you that clarity. This is a guest piece by Sudanese-American attorney Mo Seifeldein, who in 1997 fled Omar al-Bashir’s authoritarian rule and came to the United States as Sudanese refugees.
Never take seriously those who ridicule low income people for having a smartphone or laptop. “If they’re so poor how did they buy an iPhone???” Because they’re trying to escape poverty, not the 1700s, genius. If you think basic tech access is luxury, survive a month without it.
Just to be clear. MAGAs are gutting: •Medicaid—which 60M Americans rely on to survive •SNAP—which 42M Americans rely on to eat •School Lunch—which 30M kids rely on daily •Housing Assistance—which 5M families rely on to live ALL to cut $4.5T in taxes for 800 Billionaires This Is Barbaric.
I'm sick of the questions asking if Zohran is "too young" at 34 from the same people who think Donald Trump isn't "too old" at 79 and deteriorating health. And by the way, Jefferson was 33, Madison was 25, Hamilton was 21, and James Monroe was 18, and y'all trust them as infallible leaders. Critics can't find flaw with Zohran's policies so they bring up nonsensical things like age, or eating with his hands, or calling his dad's cousin his aunt. It's absurd. Vote Zohran on Nov 4. Let's do this
