Wow. NPR reporting that Washington Post’s cancellations now exceed 250,000 paying subscribers—roughly 10% of all paid circulation. If you cancelled, I invite y’all to reallocate those resources to my human rights newsletter, “Let’s Address This.” Subscribe: www.qasimrashid.com/subscribe
MAGA pundit Ryan Girdusky spewed to Hasan “I hope your beeper doesn’t go off.” He calls it a “joke” but his racist comment isn’t isolated. He’s a Project 2025 advisor, runs a racist PAC, & previously wrote for a Nazi—yet CNN invited him on anyway. Why?🤔
Netanyahu has banned journalists in Gaza, is blocking aid into Gaza, is bombing civilians in Gaza, & has now banned UNRWA, the final lifeline to support Palestinians in Gaza. This is intentional. This is genocide. Biden continuing to fund this atrocity is beyond reprehensible. image
Under Trump: •Hurricane Maria killed 4600 Puerto Ricans •He then delayed $20B in critical aid to Puerto Rico •He now approved a racist joke about Puerto Rico The point is, the racist joke isn't "just a joke"—it's a reflection of how he's always seen Puerto Ricans as subhuman.
200K subscribers amounts to ~8% of @washingtonpost's base. Staggering. Reminder: Cancelling is Step 1. Step 2 is investing those funds in media & writers who aren't afraid to speak truth to power. I welcome your support to my human rights newsletter: www.qasimrashid.com/subscribe image
Donald Trump held a Nazi rally at MSG last night and we need to call it out for what it is.
Demonized Puerto Rico Spewed Islamophobic comments Called to violently destroy the left Threatened journalists with violence Declared "America is for Americans only." One speaker even called it a "Nazi rally at MSG." This WAS a Nazi rally in 2024 USA. Media must name it as such.
It isn’t just the LA Times or Washington Post capitulating to fascism. CNN refused to fact check Trump during his debate against Biden. CBS also refused to fact check the VP debate. Legacy media is prioritizing neutrality over justice—even as neutrality emboldens fascism. We cannot and must not sit idle. Invest in non-corporate bought media & advocacy. Let's protect our democracy together.
I'm hearing murmurings that 60,000+ have cancelled their WaPo subscription. I genuinely and deeply hope 60,000+ also reallocate those resources into independent media, academics, and activists doing the hard work of holding the powerful accountable. Please make that investment.
BREAKING: The Washington Post is changing their tagline from "Democracy Dies in Darkness" to "We Make Sure Democracy Dies in Darkness." 😐
