Sunny and unseasonably warm here on the north coast of California. Today is one of those must get through my chore list days. Since I have to head to town with a lab sample for my husband I will tack on a stop at the transfer station and the mailbox. Summer jumped right to getting the cardboard squished and loaded up. She says she knows that everyday can't be a play day. Her pal isn't feeling his best but isn't worse either so that's a win. We all managed some restful sleep last night. Good morning, Mastodon.
Last night was long. It's clear that the preventative antibiotics my husband is taking aren't preventing anymore. He was sick with a high fever all night. I had a doctor appointment that I couldn't miss this morning so one of the grandkids came out so I could get away. I didn't get everything I wanted from my appointment but we agreed that I am slowly healing from my tooth infection. All of my health indicators are looking up. While I had a back up caregiver I got Summer out for a good run. The beach was beautiful. Now it's time to turn the raspberries I defrosted into jam while I wait to hear what new ideas the doctor has for my husband. #Summer #DogsOfMastodon
Summer says that I can share the chair with her as long as she gets belly rubs. I am off to the doctor in a few minutes. Good morning, Mastodon. #Summer #DogsOfMastodon image
Lemon blueberry scones are baked, frosted and cooling before delivery. Fancy paper plate packaging is prepared. Off to put laundry in the dryer and get my shower. Zoom. #Baking
Being a caregiver/dog mom is a busy job compared to my old job running a CPA office. I wouldn't have believed it five years ago but it's true. The job satisfaction and perks are better but the pay not so much. At least I don't have to dress up or wear sensible shoes anymore. After baking fresh muffins for my husband for breakfast I fed Summer and threw together some scones which are getting cold in the freezer. During the freezer stage Summer and I launched a side quest to walk her favorite trail. Swimming and diving happened. She had taken an extended break from diving and needs to find her groove again. She met a new dog friend on the trail, got grandma splattered with mud and soaked the driver's seat of the car. It's finally time for my first meal of the day and a shower while the scones are in the oven. The day is almost half over. Whew.
