CONTEXT: FDNY Fire Marshals have arrested 21-year-old Dominick Sacchetti in connection with a fire at a Staten Island ShopRite on November 26th. Sacchetti was an employee of the supermarket. After reviewing surveillance footage, Fire Marshals say Sacchetti started the fire on a product shelf containing paper goods. The fire spread quickly causing an expected $100,000 in damages. At the time of the fire, the store was packed with shoppers preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday. A fast-acting customer helped to briefly knock down the fire using a fire extinguisher. FDNY units arrived promptly and fully extinguished the fire. Sacchetti has been charged with arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and intent to damage property.
