CONTEXT: On October 28th, 2025, officers with the Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) Unit were alerted to a homicide suspect driving in the area of Pickfair Way SW near Ashwood Avenue NW. The officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and upon doing so, utilized their patrol vehicles to box the suspect vehicle in. The suspect rammed the patrol vehicles in an attempt to escape before fleeing from his own vehicle armed with a handgun that had been modified to be a fully automatic weapon. The suspect threw the firearm into the adjacent wood line but was quickly apprehended by the officers. The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Keith Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was wanted for his involvement in a homicide that occurred at 700 Eloise Street SE on April 9th, 2025. Mr. Hawkins has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2 Counts), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Machine Gun, Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers, and Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance.
