4 September 1930 | Czech Jewish boy František (Franta) Bass was born in Brno. He was incarcerated in Theresienstadt ghetto on 2 December 1941. He wrote poetry there. Franta was murdered in Auschwitz on 30 October 1944. His poem "The Garden”. A little garden, Fragrant and full of roses, The path is narrow And a little boy walks along it. A little boy, a sweet boy, Like that growing blossom. When the blossom comes to bloom, The little boy will be no more.

4 September 1933 | A German Jewish girl, Margot Steinberg, was born in Berlin. In 1942 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

4 September 1910 | A Pole, Zbigniew Wasilewski, was born in Warsaw. An engineer. In #Auschwitz from 18 December 1941. No. 24732 He was shot in the camp on 19 June 1942.

4 September 1940 | A French Jewish girl, Jeannine Ojalvo, was born in Paris. She arrived at #Auschwitz on 2 June 1944 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from #Drancy. She was among 627 of them murdered in gas chambers after the selection.

4 September 1884 | A Polish Jew, Salomon Kanner, was born in Kańczuga. In #Auschwitz from 15 December 1941. No. 24554 He was shot in the camp on 20 December 1941.

4 September 1923 | A German Jew, Heinz Blut, was born in Wroclaw (then in Germany, today in Poland). In #Auschwitz from 24 October 1941. No. 21937 He perished in the camp on 7 November 1941.

3 September 1909 | A Czech Jewish woman, Truda Broková, was born in Prague. She was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 6 October 1944. She did not survive.

3 September 1902 | A Pole, Ignacy Szczykutowicz, was born in Piotrowice. In #Auschwitz from 1 September 1942. No. 62649 He perished in the Mauthausen camp on 24 December 1943.

3 September 1935 | An Italian Jewish girl, Sissel Vogelmann, was born in Torino. In January 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz together with her parents Schulim and Anna. On 6 February she and her mother were murdered in a gas chamber. The father survived.

3 September 1944 | The last transport of Jews left #Westerbork camp in the German-occupied #Netherlands to the #Auschwitz camp. 1,019 people were deported, among them Anne Frank, her sister Margot, and their parents Otto and Edith.
