That was their choice.” He does not see Wordpress as a community project but all the Wordpress Infrastructure as "his website". And he gets to decide who may use it. (

"Analoge Prozesse abbauen" ist was ganz anderes als "Digitale Prozesse aufbauen". Wenn ich analoge Wege abbaue, kann ich danach immer behaupten, mein Digitalzeug sei ein Erfolg: Er wird ja massiv genutzt. Ob er besser ist als der analoge spielt dabei keine Rolle. Und zu oft werden in solchen Kontexten Menschen nicht mitgedacht, die nicht so einfach Zugang zu digitalen Infrastrukturen oder die Kompetenzen, diese zu nutzen, haben. Typisches Wissing Ding.

And the messed up thing is, is that - after people migrated away from WP or forked or whatever - nobody will have learned a thing and we'll keep doing it again. Again have some spoiled manbaby (or an organization that buys an ad company run by Meta people) run and develop core infrastructures. We talk a lot about democratization but usually just mean "cheap". It neither contains "agency" or "participation" nor "duties towards the shared public". We really need to democratize the digital. And slap that word out of ever VC's mouth. Forever.
