My friend Athula just delivered 3 jars of chutney (beet/coconut, eggplant, and ridge gourd) and most amazing roasted cashews. The cashews are harvested by tribals in the Eastern Ghats (mountains), roasted over a wood fire, then peeled. The pepper is a single origin pepper from Melnad in the Western Ghats, and the salt is from the Himalayas. Eat your heart out, I'm not sharing.

Halfway through the new batch of pomegranates. The rest are still on the tree. Should end up with 3 gallons of nibs by the time I’m done. They all are all ripe … color of the skin not necessarily a good indicator.

I bought a new toaster and the instructions said several times that I should unplug the device after every use. Or, as they say, I should “isolate the unit.” I’ve been making toast for over 60 years and I have never once isolated a toaster after use. Is this procedure really necessary?

I experienced a Sudden Unexpected Basil Harvest (SUBH) and was forced to reopen the pesto factory on an emergency posture. After 2.5 days of prep work I now have 8 quarts of destemmed basil, 2 pounds of pounded hazelnuts, 1.5 pounds of grated Estero Gold Reserve (a local Parmesan-like substance), 4 cups of parsley, 7 heads of garlic roasted and the cloves extracted, and two liters of olive oil. Ready to open the factory. Cover me, going in.
