January 2025 was the 18th month in a 19-month period in which the global-average temperature was more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial level. 🧵 With the emergence of La Niña conditions in the eastern equatorial Pacific, one would have expected January 2025 to be somewhat cooler than January 2024, when the El Niño event was nearing its peak intensity.🧵
