Turns out, “diversity” wasn’t flying with federal law. Since 2007, Southwest cashed in on over $330 million in federal contracts while allegedly breaking nondiscrimination rules. The U.S. Department of Labor said the airline’s DEI policies—like quotas and preferences—violated their equal opportunity obligations. Following an investigation and a compliance meeting on December 2, 2024, Southwest pledged to ditch the quotas and stick to actual merit. Looks like DEI just got booted to the no-fly list.
